You can use PayPal as a merchant account but beware of all the complaints they have.
Simple Payment Systems is safe. Call and ask them about any questions regarding payment services. I also use them. All the software is free and they train you for free. The discount rate and transaction fees are lower than PayPal.

I would go with Simple Payment Systems. They give you the software for free with a check out cart, and a credit card terminal of your choice if you want it.(For free also.) Just tell them you want the free terminal program.Or just apply and pick it your self online.
