Naomi,
The free usually comes with a price- everyone has to make a living. In the world of merchant account there are many pricing models. What you should do is make sure you find the right merchant account for your business. Try applying with 2 or three providers and compare. Do that using creditcardprocessing-r-us.com Check the tradeoff between the different features of the offered merchant account and pick the one that suits you most.

If you are looking for a “free” merchant account the first thing to realize is that nothing is free. If you are getting sold a $400 terminal for “Free” you better believe that the company is making it up elsewhere, as in the rates, fees, etc. And they will make sure that they make more money than that $400, so that “free” merchant account in the long run will turn into a costly one! Our company does have a free start up, because there are no costs to that, but we tend to charge for the terminals, because in the long run it will benefit you the merchant greatly. You can email us at. com and we can help you out with your merchant account. I hope this information was useful, hope to hear from you, and good luck.

Aside from credit card processing (which you can do in pretty much less than 24 hours). You can also sell to a bigger market (think global), and earn more than your usual revenue. Sounds good eh? Add to that the free application fees you can normally get from your free merchant account provider, and you’re all set!
