Can a merchant account provider send the money back to a buyer if they already processed it?
madvac2005 asked:
I am a merchant account user. I sold something into the thousands of dollars using my account. The merchant account provider told me i had to do a refund to the buyer b/c I didnt have the right to sell that product. The money had already been processed and sent to my account. I say cant you all send it back. They say no I have to do it once it reaches my bank account. The NEXT day i call them back asking and they say no the money is not coming to my account. But i have to refund it manually. I think they are lying and want to keep the money b/c i called the same company and they say once a payment is going to my account it cant be stopped unless i do a refund.

My thinking is that YOU are lying. Your scenario does not make sense as stated. IF you actually had a merchant account, you would have understood the process BEFORE you began accepting cards for payment. You also contradict yourself. You state the money had already been sent to your account, and then state the money is not coming to your account.
