As a merchant, can I debit a client’s savings account?

Usually clients give me debit or credit cards, but today a new client gave me her savings account number to debit from each month and she didn’t have a debit card or a checking account. Yes, if your bank offers those services. But it would be harder to keep your records. Have you considered having said client mail a money order?
